Band swing it for Lions

THE Centenary Hall of Berkhamsted Collegiate School was the venue for another highly successful charity concert organised by The Lions Club of Berkhamsted. This year it was The James Goff Big Band doing the honours, with music from the 40s and 50s, interspersed with some modern classics. Close to £2,000 was raised, to be divided between The Iain Rennie Hospice at Home and Berkhamsted Lions Club Charitable Trust.
Lion Geoff Smith, chairman of the organising committee, paid tribute to the 19 band members who hail from the Milton Keynes and Leighton Buzzard area.
He said: “We’re most grateful to them for freely giving their time and talent to support the Lions in our charitable efforts. It was an excellent evening’s entertainment - enjoyed by a well-filled hall, with a sea of happy faces.” He also thanked Berkhamsted Collegiate School for allowing the Lions to use their facilities.
